Synopsis: Women’s Empowerment funds targeted poverty alleviation programs that benefit women experiencing poverty or extreme poverty, living in under-resourced, often rural, communities. With current partnerships in the U.S., Africa, Mexico, Haiti and Honduras, WE accepts letters of inquiry on an ongoing basis for poverty alleviation programs focused on women’s economic empowerment.
Activities funded include:
- Provision of microloans to establish or sustain businesses; stipends to support the purchase of equipment and supplies for businesses.
- Training on budgeting, permitting, and marketing & operations to establish and grow small local businesses.
- Education about saving budgeting, & banking practices, self-care, nutrition and violence prevention.
- Paid on-the-job training for entry into the workforce.
