SYNOPSIS
The Livelihood Impact Fund meaningfully and durably improves the lives of the global poor. The goal is to increase people's ability to support themselves and their families by
providing them with skills, capital, and opportunities.
The Fund targets interventions with the potential to have 5x or more present value of increased future earnings per dollar spent.
The Fund supports both young and established organizations that do excellent work and aspire to expand their impact over the next 3-10 years. Current grantee partners take a wide array of approaches to helping people support themselves and their families, and operate in rural as well as urban communities.
Their current portfolio covers the following areas:
● Agriculture: smallholder farmers productivity and regenerative agriculture
● Entrepreneurship: micro, small & medium enterprise development, business growth programs
● Workforce Development: employability training programs across industries (tech, hospitality, construction...)
While East and West Africa are still the primary focus, they now support organizations in a number of other African countries, including Zambia, Malawi, and Zimbabwe.
For the Lab portfolio, they typically invest in African-led organizations with budgets between $150,000 and $1M. They provide three-years of unrestricted funding combined with capacity building support to help organizations move to the next stage of their growth. Grant sizes range from $100,000 to $250,000 per year depending on annual budget sizes (usually no more than 30% of annual budget).
